Roskilde 2018

30 June – 7 July 2018
Roskilde, Denmark

Roskilde Festival was first held in 1971 and has become the biggest festival in northern Europe and certainly one of the biggest in the entire continent. Through its long history, it has attracted the most famous musicians that ever graced the planet, including Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Nirvana, U2, R.E.M., Radiohead, Muse… you name them!

Roskilde hosts its artists on nine different stages with its main stage called the Orange Stage. Throughout this week-long party, one gets to enjoy a massive lineup (the number of artists usually approaches 180!), which spans a vast range of musical genres, from reggae and hip hop to rock and heavy metal. Of course, like at any European festival, one gets to enjoy a plethora of food options and beer. Alongside all this, you get an excellent organisation and an excellent vibe from more than 150,000 festival-goers from all over the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the festival?

You will be going to one of the best organised festivals so expect to have no issues regarding transportation. If you are traveling from abroad and you will not be using the campsite you may as well stay in the beautiful city of Copenhagen and use the dedicated train service to make the half-hour long journey. Trains travel from Copenhagen Central Station to Roskilde Station frequently until late. Other options are shuttle buses, cars and taxis. There technically is the option to stay at a hotel in the town of Roskilde, but you must book well in advance, most probably even before the first lineup announcements are made. Is there a festival campsite?

One of the best! You have various options ranging from ‘regular camping’, which is free with your ticket and requires you to take your own tent, to the prebooked areas, where you reserve your space for a fee. If you wish to camp, but you do not wish to meddle with the wild crowds, there is the ‘Silent and Clean’ option, where you book a space in a tent community which is…. silent and clean!
