The Spanish answer to Rock Werchter, Pinkpop and Glastonbury came in 2016 with Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. From its first year, Mad Cool showed its teeth and proved that it will play a significant role in the world of summer festivals.
Mad Cool is already considered to be one of the major festivals in Spain, among Primavera Sound, Bilbao BBK, FIB Benicassim and Sónar. In its short life, the festival has managed to host names like The Who, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, Neil Young and Green Day. With one of the best undercards of Europe as well, you can expect an amazing lineup every year!
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to the festival?
Mad Cool takes place in Valdebebas, in the northeast of Madrid. The best way to get there is by public transport. Bus C1 travels from the center of Madrid to Valdebebas. Also, Metro line 8 connects Nuovos Ministerios (where you can get to with many different lines) with the festival site: from the Feria de Madrid it is a few minutes walk to Mad Cool. The festival continues until late at night, public transport unfortunately not. It seems that the festival will provide night buses to the city centre, but the details are not yet known at the time of writing.
Madrid itself is easily reached by plane. Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) is connected by the city’s Metro network, and is conveniently located along the same line 8 as the festival site, which will also take you to the city centre.
Is there a festival campsite?
The festival does not have an official campsite due to the high temperatures in Madrid in the summer. However, there are plenty of options from hotels to airbnb apartments, etc. Be sure to book as early as possible to get the best deals.
