Lollapalooza Berlin is a multigenre music festival, so expect the best of what worldwide music has to offer every year. From Radiohead to Foo Fighters and from Armin Van Buuren to Kraftwerk. The festival is held in the first weeks of September, so get ready for a spectacular weekend under the sun.
Lollapalooza started in 1991 in the US. The first edition was a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction, organized by Perry Farrell, the singer of the band. The festival expanded to Chile in 2010, then to Brazil and Argentina. In 2015, the first European Lollapalooza took place in Berlin. Only a few years later, it has already established itself as one of Europe’s biggest players.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to the festival?
There is no official festival parking so it is suggested to use public transport. You can use either the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to get there. Be sure that you stop at Olympiastadion station. You will need around 30 minutes if you are traveling from the centre of Berlin.
How do I pay for drinks and food at the festival?
To avoid big queues and for the best protection against theft, the festival decided to only use digital currency. You pay with your festival card. You can top up your card whenever you want at the special booths around the festival site. If you have any money left on your card after the festival, you can easily get that back.
Is there a festival campsite?
Lollapalooza Berlin does not have an official campsite, so you will be looking at a hotel or an apartment for the weekend. But let’s be honest: that is not a punishment in the beautiful city of Berlin.
