The decision by Mad Cool comes as no surprise. After the organisation stated, a few days ago, that the chances of the festival happening were decreasing, it was only a matter of time. Now, it has become clear that the festival will not go ahead on the scheduled dates.
The organisation confirms that more information about the tickets will be available soon. Everyone who wishes will be able to get a refund. Alternatively, festivalgoers can choose to take their ticket with them to the next edition. Whether this will be in 2020 or maybe next year we will still have to wait to find out.
Mad Cool 2020 was due to take place between 8 and 11 July. Mumford & Sons, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Kings of Leon and The Killers were all set to headline the festival. Joining them were alt-J, Faith No More, Royal Blood and more to complete the full line-up.
Across Europe, several festivals have already been cancelled because of the coronavirus. It seems only a matter of time until more festivals will follow. While we may not be able to go to many festivals this summer, there are still shows to enjoy. Check out the Festival Concert series and our updated overview of artists’ live streams.
