Summer festivals would not be as exciting without several months to speculate about which artists will take the stage this year. At Festileaks we always keep an eye out for rumours. In this article, we ask ourselves: who will we see at Pinkpop 2020?

There are still months before Pinkpop 2020 opens its doors again. However, the first names are already announced. Who will join headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers and Post Malone at the Dutch festival?

This is the list of the main rumours (in random order).

Kendrick Lamar

Not a year goes by that Kendrick Lamar is not rumoured to play European festivals. However, in 2020 it’s actually happening again. The American rapper has already confirmed several European festival shows, so he is in the area. Moreover, Bilbao BBK Live and NOS Alive take place just after the Dutch festival. Can we expect a second hip hop headliner for Pinkpop 2020?

The Who

The Who are back! After 30 years they are releasing a new album. They will also start a tour next March, promoting their new album. With the current tour schedule, the chance of them performing at Pinkpop is very possible. Jan Smeets has been saying for years that the band is very high on his wishlist for Pinkpop. With this, the chance that we will see the English band in Landgraaf is certainly present.

In 2018 Eminem did a series of festivals, including Roskilde in Denmark. Last year he was supposed to continue this tour, but in the end it did not go through. The American rapper was booked as Pinkpop’s Sunday headliner, but had to cancel. Will Slim Shady make up for it in 2020?

The last time AC/DC played in the Netherlands was in 2015 during the Rock or Bust tour. One year later, singer Brian Johnson had to leave the band due to hearing problems. He was replaced for the rest of the tour by Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose. Johnson seems to be back in the band now. What’s more: he allegedly told metal band Terrorizer that he will sing again on AC/DC’s new album. Will they also go on tour again?

Neil Young

It is no secret that Jan Smeets always has one name at the top of his Pinkpop wishlist: Neil Young. According to Smeets, the festival is trying to book the Canadian for its 2020 edition. Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse have been working on a new album and the singer recently shared a new single. Young also already announced he is going on a tour but it is not yet known where this tour will take place. Could it include Pinkpop as well?

Pinkpop was organized for the first time in 1970, making it one of the oldest annual music festivals in the world. The Dutch festival often boasts impressive lineups. In the past decade, headliners included Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Muse, Paul McCartney, and The Rolling Stones. Pinkpop covers a variety of music genres from indie, rock, and metal to pop, hip hop, and dance.
