Summer festivals would not be as exciting without several months to speculate about which artists will take the stage next year. At Festileaks we always keep an eye out for rumours. In this article, we ask ourselves: who will we see at Graspop 2020?

In 2020, the Belgian metal meeting will be a four-day XL edition. Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Deftones, Deep Purple, Korn and many more are already confirmed. Who else can we expect to take the stage?

Here is an overview of the main rumours (in random order).

Faith No More

It seems certain that Faith No More will return to Belgium in 2020. The American band have already revealed performances at Mad Cool in Spain and NOS Alive in Portugal, for example. During the Graspop weekend they will play at Hellfest in France. The only question that remains is whether Graspop is the lucky festival, or Rock Werchter.

AC/DC

The last time AC/DC played in the Belgium was in 2016 during the Rock or Bust tour. One year later, singer Brian Johnson had to leave the band due to hearing problems. He was replaced for the rest of the tour by Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose. Johnson seems to be back in the band now. What’s more: he allegedly told metal band Terrorizer that he will sing again on AC/DC’s new album. Will they also go on tour again?

Volbeat

A major contender for Graspop next year is Volbeat. After headline performances in 2014, 2016 and 2018, the next logical stop would be in 2020. Having released a brand new album, the Danish metalheads have a good reason to come back to Belgium. They have already been announced as headliner for Rock am Ring & Rock im Park 2020.

Nightwish

In July 2019, Nightwish announced that a new album is in the works. It is set to be released in spring 2020, which makes it perfect timing for a festival tour in summer. So far the Finnish band have only confirmed Mystic Festival in Poland, but this is unlikely to be the only one. Can we expect a return to Graspop?

Guns N’ Roses

Guns N' Roses

Guns N’ Roses have been announced for the South American Lollapalooza festivals in spring 2020. Quite often, this means a band will travel to Europe afterwards. It would not be unreasonable to think about GNR for 2020. Playing Graspop would be a return after their huge headline show in 2018.

Slipknot

Slipknot 2018

A bit of an outsider for 2020. Of course, Slipknot performed at Graspop this year as well. Yet, the festival has booked the same headliner two years in a row before, so it’s not unthinkable. The American band have announced 28 shows throughout Europe for January and February 2020, but not a single one in Belgium. If another full-blown headline show is too soon, a Belgian edition of Knotfest may also be an option.

Metallica

Metallica are a difficult case. On the one hand, the Americans recently cancelled their shows in Australia and New Zealand. On the other hand, this did not stop them from revealing a series of special American festival shows for 2020. All these performances are in May or late summer, so there is plenty of space for the European festival season. We can’t wait to know their next tour dates.
