Miley Cyrus successfully replaces big Cardi B spot at Primavera Sound 2019

This Friday night, Miley Cyrus gave a headline-worthy show at Primavera Sound 2019, as a replacement of Cardi B. The American rapper cancelled the festival in April. What do the visitors expect of Miley? Can she fit this spot? We went in the field to find out.

When Miley Cyrus was confirmed, opinions were already divided. One thought it was a cool replacement. Some others hoped for a name more like Cardi B. Both artists are popular in America even though they make totally different types of music. Before Miley hit the stage, we asked the visitors about their expectations.

Carlos really hoped to see Cardi B: “I’m a big fan of her. When I heard she would come to Primavera Sound, I was really enthusiastic. I was also curious what her live show would look like. In itself I think Miley is a good replacement, but if I had to choose I would still pick Cardi.” Stella, a friend of Carlos, thinks the opposite. “The moment I heard Miley Cyrus came, I bought my ticket. I already doubted because of Janelle Monáe but this decided it for me. I wonder if she will also play the songs of her new EP.”

Louis and Tony call it a blessing in disguise. “Cardi B was one of our favourite names on the poster, so of course it sucks that she’s not here. But to be honest I think we are even more hyped about Miley! It’s really cool that they found an artist this big for a replacement. I’m curious if Charli XCX will join the stage again just like she did yesterday.”

So, visitors of Primavera Sound are still divided about who they preferred to see on stage. But it seems there’s also consensus: Miley Cyrus is a good replacement.

After Janelle Monáe sang her last notes, everybody rushed to the main stage. The field was fully packed for Miley Cyrus her show. After a short, remarkable ASMR video teaser Miley hits the stage with the latest banger ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’. Everyone is convinced and sings along with every word of the chorus.

After she set this good atmosphere, Miley decides to try some new songs. On the day of her show, she dropped her new EP She Is Coming. She played all five songs and the audience seemed to like it. After a few unknown songs, people are hungry for more of Miley’s bangers.

And she delivers. From old school classics ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ to newer hits like ‘Malibu’ and even ‘Jolene’, originally by her godmother Dolly Parton. The public is ecstatic. After her first exit, the stage is transformed and Miley returns on a big stereo system. She closes the set with ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’ in the encore. She definitely filled Cardi B’s spot with success.
