Foo Fighters will play thirteen shows around Europe this summer, including festivals such as Sziget and Reading & Leeds. After the band’s first festival last weekend, this is what we can expect.
The tour kicked off on 12 May in Rockingham, NC at Epicenter Festival. They will play four gigs in the USA, and then Foo Fighters will start their heavily anticipated European tour on 18 June 2019 in Croatia. The band will headline several major festivals, including Sziget, Reading & Leeds, Hurricane & Southside and Lollapalooza Stockholm.
As you can see the setlist contains a variety of songs from all their albums. In over two hours long show all fans can find there something for them. Band plays not only well-known hits like ‘The Pretender’, ‘All My Life’ or ‘My Hero’, but also songs only known by true fans.
2. Stage decorations
There are no fancy stage props or acrobats. The only thing what really matters are instruments. Behind the band there is a very large screen, which refers to the cover of latest album Concrete and Gold. Screens are connected to the lights, which perfectly bond the show together.
3. Fans on stage
Foo Fighters is famous for inviting fans to the stage. It’s a great opportunity to have your moment when thousands of people are watching you.
4. Audience interaction
One of the most remarkable moments of Foo Fighters concert is when the band connects with the audience. Dave Grohl is a huge storyteller, who likes to open during the concert. Moreover, Taylor Hawkins, the drummer, often plays with the fans ‘Day-oh’ like Freddie Mercury did.
Foo Fighters are an American rock band from Seattle, formed in 1994. The group was founded by Dave Grohl, a true rock ‘n’ roll icon of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, after the dissolution of Nirvana and the death of Kurt Cobain. They released their eponymous debut album a year later, which received very positive reviews from the media. After 24 years, Foo Fighters have headlined every major festival around the world. Four of their albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. The band has sold over 12 million copies in the United States alone.
Sziget Festival is one of the largest music festivals in Europe which is held every August in northern Budapest. It started in 1993 as a festival for students and quickly attracted a more international audience. Since then, Sziget has won the European Festival Award of Best Lineup twice, in 2014 and 2017; for it is not the headliners that make the festival but rather its variety of musical genres.
