The end of the year is getting closer and closer, so it is the perfect time to look back at another year of great music. Every other week, the Festileaks 50 included many new releases, but which songs ultimately made the biggest impression?

The 56 individual lists of our team members have been collected and the votes have been counted. Are you curious about the results? You can find them below.

The list

With a comfortable lead, ‘Feel Good’ by Maribou State feat. Khruangbin finished in first place! In 2018, Maribou State played at Lowlands, Sónar Barcelona and All Points East, amongst others. Khruangbin performed at Best Kept Secret, All Points East and more. And even better: in 2019, both bands will be touring again!

The British Arctic Monkeys finished at #2 with ‘Four Out of Five’, but they can also be found further down the list with the title track of their latest album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. After his spectacular performances at Rock Werchter, Roskilde and more in 2018, David Byrne was also beloved among the editors; the former Talking Heads frontman takes the third spot in the year-end list.

Did you know that…

  • … there are 83 different artists in the top 100?
  • … of all those artists, Arctic Monkeys received the most votes?
  • … the favourite album of the team is Violence by Editors? No less than three album tracks made it into the list.
  • … Festival Act of the Year Pearl Jam also made the list? ‘Can’t Deny Me’ can be found at #37.
  • … ‘Make Me Feel’ by Janelle Monáe was the most beloved? The song has the highest average score per vote.
  • … the lowest average score per vote is for Jungle‘s ‘Happy Man’. The track was included in four lists, but only reached a meagre 87th place.
  • … only 20% of all acts in the list are (partly) female?
