Today, Pinkpop’s main man Jan Smeets announced that Coldplay, The Police and The Cure will not be performing in Landgraaf next summer. But something big might still happen…
Reacting to this morning’s announcement of Fleetwood Mac, Pinkpop’s festival organiser, Jan Smeets, could not say much about other names when Dutch radio DJ, Giel Beelen, called him. However, he did say that The Police, The Cure and Coldplay will not perform in Landgraaf next year. That’s 100% sure.
Smeets added: “Monday [with Fleetwood Mac] will be a strong day, but I can’t say much about that yet. But I want to tell you already that it’s going to be a really good day.” When asked about the other act on Monday, Smeets replied: “I think it’s even bigger than Fleetwood Mac”.
In 2018’s edition, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars headlined the Dutch festival. We can probably expect the two others soon enough.
Pinkpop was first organised in 1970, making it one of the oldest annual music festivals in the world. The Dutch festival often boasts impressive lineups. In the past decade, headliners included Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Muse, Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones. Pinkpop covers every kind of music from indie, rock and metal to pop, hip-hop and dance.
