Sziget Festival 2019 will announce its first headline act on 20 September at 11.00 CET. What is in store for the earliest announcement in their entire history?

As said by the organisers, the first announcement for the 27th edition of Sziget Festival will arrive this month. A week from today, we will know which big name will land on the Island of Freedom.

Potential headliners

Our team, however, always keep an eye out for rumours. We know that Ed Sheeran has confirmed his tour will end in September 2019, just in time to be at the Óbuda Island.

Also, Coldplay are rumoured to play a few festival shows in Europe next year. Chris Martin’s band has already been associated with performances at Spanish and Italian festivals.

The Foo Fighters are another possible contender for the headline slot. They are currently touring North America but bookmakers see the band as the favourite to headline Reading & Leeds Festival, which is also held in August.

Whoever the artist may be, we will keep you informed.

Sziget Festival is one of the largest music festivals in Europe which is held every August in northern Budapest. It started in 1993 as a festival for students and quickly attracted a more international audience. Since then, Sziget has won the European Festival Award of Best Line-up twice, in 2014 and 2017; for it is not the headliners that make the festival but rather its variety of musical genres.
