Bon Jovi are a rock group from New Jersey, formed in 1983. Jon Bon Jovi, frontman and lead singer of the band, recorded his first single ‘Runaway’ in his cousin’s studio in 1980. The single was part of a compilation album, which also began to get airplay in the New York area around 1983. At the same time, he formed Bon Jovi together with guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres and keyboardist David Bryan. Their self-titled debut album was released a year later and gained positive reviews from the media. However, the band achieved massive worldwide success and recognition with the release of their third album Slippery When Wet. The album stayed No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts for eight weeks. It was also considered one of the most important glam/hard rock album of the 80s.
Since then the band has released ten more albums that way achieving a great success and making them one of the bestselling American rock bands. Bon Jovi continues to perform around the world until today. Their latest tours belong among the highest-grossing concert tours of the 2000s. The band was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2018, while their last album This House is Not for Sale was released in 2016.
