After the final announcements this week, it is time to dive deep into the schedule of Roskilde 2018. We have gathered for you the top 5 of most difficult clashes at Denmark’s most famous festival.
1. Wednesday: Nine Inch Nails vs. Charlotte Gainsbourg
Let’s start with an easy (?) one. We have representatives of two completely different genres here. Industrial/alternative rock legends Nine Inch Nails (Arena / 00:00) will share the headliner status together with Eminem on 4 July. However, French actress and indie pop singer, Charlotte Gainsbourg (Avalon / 00:00) will hit the stage at the same time as NIN. The result will be decided by your specific music preference. Pick your side!
2. Saturday: Gorillaz vs. Blonde Redhead
This may seem an easy one but both parties have a respectable career in their specific genre. Gorillaz (Orange / 23.00) will mash up different genres like hip hop, electronic and in some cases art-pop. In the other corner we have nu-gaze’s captivating band Blonde Redhead (Avalon /23:00). When you think it through, we think you might have second thoughts on which one to pick on 7 July.
3. Thursday: Interpol vs. Khalid
In round 3, we have yet again a clash of two acts of completely different genres, who will both perform on 5 July. In the right corner, we have the godfather of 00s indie rock Interpol (Orange / 19:00). And in the left corner, we have new R&B heartthrob Khalid (Arena / 19:00). Again, who will win this round will probably be related to your music preference.
4. Saturday: Vince Staples vs. Sigrid
We have two rising stars on this one for 7 July. Vince Staples (Apollo / 21:00) is recognisable with his alternative hip hop tunes and exciting performance. Norwegian singer Sigrid (Avalon / 21:00) is a talented newcomer in the synth pop genre, whom you will probably remember from her Justice League soundtrack ‘Everybody Knows’.
5. Thursday: First Aid Kit vs. When Saints Go Machine vs. Yasmine Hamdan
This is an interesting clash of three different genres. Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit (Orange / 16:00) have a very successful career, having won three Grammys already. Energetic electro pop band When Saints Go Machine (Arena / 16:00) will be playing a home match at the Danish festival. And last but not least, we have Lebanese singer Yasmine Hamdan (Pavilion / 16:00), a unique representative of arabic trip-hop. You will not regret seeing any of these performers on 5 July.
