Tame Impala have just been announced as the first headliners for Citadel Festival 2018, which takes place in London. This performance will be a UK exclusive and they will top the main stage on Sunday 15 July.
It’s only the second European date for the Australian band. So far, they had only been announced for Mad Cool on July 12. This summer, it has been exactly 2 years since Kevin Parker & co toured Europe.
Parker has been vague about the follow-up of Currents, which propelled Tame Impala into international fame rather than staying in the psych-niche. However, the mastermind of the band has been working with ZHU, SZA and Mark Ronson for the next LP. Since the band is not touring, he has been DJing various time with Mark Ronson in addition to other solo projects, like collaborating with Travis Scott for his third album Astroworld.
To please the fans while waiting for the next LP, which hasn’t been announced yet, they released 3 Currents B-sides a few months ago: ‘List of People (To Try And Forget About)‘, ‘Powerlines‘ and ‘Taxi’s Here‘.
